Listen to the ground !

Editors existed for a brief but brilliant period between 1980 -1983. We did not take ourselves too seriously! Everything we did had very healthy doses of humor in it - if you listen closely to the lyrics there are a lot of self-deprecating inside jokes. Most of these tracks were recorded on 4 Track in 1980. Phony British accents were not cool - we were not punks - we were from the suburbs with wives and kids and houses and jobs. But we idolized and imitated bands from the first wave of British punk (Stranglers/Damned/999) as well as the post punk bands like Gang of Four, Wire and Joy Division. The 80's were not a happy time - Ronnie Raygun was president and it seemed like a bleak period. Two tracks here are recorded live at Ron's Place in New Haven during many live dates in 1981(#5 & #7). The cover shot of Martin Earley was taken Halloween night 1981 at the infamous Ron's Last Stand by photographer Rollin Riggs. The last three tracks (#8/#9/#10) were recorded on an 8 Track and date from October 1982. No material on this CDR has ever been released.
