Sting Recordings was started in 2003 by Hindzy D (Dub Injektion) and Peter Litchfield (Beatfreaks). Between 2003 and 2011 the two released over 40 tracks, many causing waves on the pirate radio stations and clubs of the underground Grime and Dubstep scenes. Notable tracks include, Target (Hindzy D), Candyman (Lix), Shiverz (Distance) . In 2004, the label signed a little-known producer named DJ Distance (Distance), who, after releasing his first E.P. on Sting, went onto become a pioneer of the new Dubstep, and a globally recognized DJ/producer. This maverick approach to underground music continued, and over the years the Sting label became a favorite of legendary experimental DJ, John Peel. The label took a break in 2011 as the owners took a break to pursue personal endeavours, but has reformed in 2013 - watch this space. Sounds of The Scorpion presents 32 stinging tracks from the legendary underground label, of which many are still being played today, finding their way to new heights of popularity.
